The Duchess of Sussex carried an intimate reminder of her first date with Prince Harry when she walked down the aisle, ITV's new royal documentary reveals.

As her "something blue" from the traditional bride's rhyme, Meghan asked to have stitched into the lining of her wedding dress a patch of fabric from the outfit she wore on the blind date when she met the Prince for the first time, The Daily Mail reports.

Hearing the revelation, a female curator of the Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace, where the dress is due to go on display, replied: "Oh, that's about the most romantic thing I've heard."

In another touching scene, Meghan is shown admiring her 4.5m wedding veil, which famously featured embroidered floral decorations representing all 53 Commonwealth nations.

Meghan said it was her idea to incorporate the symbolism in a design which mirrored that of the Queen's Coronation gown in 1953.

The Duchess revealed that the embroidery had been intended as "a fun surprise for my now husband, who didn't know, and he was really over the moon to find out that I would make this choice for our day together".
