First look at Dakota Johnson in Netflix's adaption of Jane Austen classic 'Persuasion'

Move over Pride and Prejudice …

Netflix just dropped the very first-look trailer at their brand new adaption of Jane Austen’s classic Persuasion.

For those unfamiliar with the novel, Persuasion tells the story of Anne Elliot, a woman with modern sensibilities who lives with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy.

However, when Frederick Wentworth—the dashing one she once sent away—crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances.

The upcoming flick features a perfect casting of Fifty Shade of Grey star Dakota Johnson as Anne, Cosmo Jarvis as Wentworth, Henry Golding, who you will recognise from Crazy Rich Asians and the iconic Richard E. Grant.

Fans took to social media to share their excitement about the movie, with one fan writing: "Dakota Johnson just fits her role perfectly. I’m so stoked to see yet another Jane Austen novel being adapted into a movie in 2022. Quite surprising to see Henry Golding in this as well. Overall, based on the trailer alone, it’s gonna be an immense rollercoaster."

Persuasion is set to hit the streaming service from July 15.
