Today British singer, Lily Allen announced that she would be taking a break from social media after her timeline became polluted with vicious, disgusting comments about her mental health and the stillbirth of her son.

The online abuse started when Allen was speaking out about immigration and racism against Muslims. Opposers took jabs at her mental health and ability to think rationally on the topic. Allen then came forward and to say she did in fact suffer with post traumatic stress disorder when her third child was stillborn in 2010 and to ask why that made her opinion any less valuable.

Instead of sympathy, Lily was met with tweets like this:

Trolls proceeded to use the information against her. Comments were made (and some, since deleted) saying, "the baby knew you were going to be such a horrible mother." One person wrote a tweet suggesting drug use is the reason she lost the baby. The mother of two replied, "I didn't miscarry, I went into early labour and by [sic] son died from his chord wrapped round his neck."

One of the trolls who said multiple horrible things to Allen then asked for the screenshots of her tweets to be deleted.

Allen has handed her account over to her friend, Dennis who will be working to combat the hate messages for her. This is so sad!
