Married at First Sight contestant Haydn Daniels has moved on from his reality romance with Bel Clark, embarking on a new relationship with an Auckland woman.

Last week, viewers witnessed the aftermath of a fight between the couple, just days after they exchanged wedding vows.

The cause of the fight was never explained - and a spokesperson for the show told Spy that the footage would never be shown.

But while the couple will continue to appear on screen together, following the experts advice to try and make it work, sources have told the Herald the pair froze each other out off camera.

Haydn and Bel seemed a good match on their wedding day, but things soon deteriorated.

It's understood Daniels wanted to end the relationship sooner but was contractually obliged to remain part of the show, living with Bel in an Auckland apartment for six weeks following their nuptials.

Sources say the living arrangement was tense and the cause of deep frustration. It's understood Daniels left the country as soon as the series began screening, to avoid the intense public scrutiny.

Even now, the pair are not free from one another, as they remain legally married. Under New Zealand law, they will have to wait two years until they can file for divorce.

Last week, it was confirmed contestants are responsible for covering the cost of divorce proceedings themselves.
